WhatsApp planning to take on Zoom with with 50-person video calls

Very soon, you may be able to make WhatsApp video calls with up to 50 participants on desktop. This new option was spotted in a beta version of WhatsApp Web by researchers at WABetaInfo.

The development means WhatsApp will become an alternative to Zoom, Skype and Google Meet for your video conferencing needs.

According the information, there will be a menu option where you will be directly taken to the newly released Facebook Messenger Rooms, where you can create a room and invite people to join, or create a room directly from WhatsApp.

WhatsApp’s recent update allows  up to 8 participants on a video call on mobile devices. The added menu options will enable one to invite more people to the call.

The feature will also be available on iOS and Android, but it’s the desktop support that makes it an alternative for video calls.
